In A Pinch

Project Overview

This project was made in a small team of 6 across 3 weeks and was designed around the themes of sea life and co-operative play. This project was chosen by the Dundee City Council from a selection of proposed projects to be showcased at The Dundee Hooley 2025.

The input system for this project was a large display with 4 large podium buttons with each linked to an ability, allowing this to be a co-operative game for players to work together in.

Gameplay

‘In a Pinch’ is a 1- 4 player, co-op racing game wherein players control a crab and must counter obstacles to escape the dredge and reach their cave.

Players each get a button podium which each have an ability assigned to them. They then have to hit them in time to counter the obstacles, build speed, and make it home to their cosy cave as quickly as possible.

Role

For this project, I was the lead programmer, implementing the basic movement, abilities, obstacle behaviours and backend code, as well as fixing implementation-related bugs before the showcase.
