Project Overview
The final artefact is a prototype version of a platform fighting style game, where 4 players can play simultaneously with controllers. The prototype features 3 different character archetypes giving variety to how each character plays with different abilities and stats for each one. Each player has a set amount of health and lives and players aim to eliminate the others to try and be the last one standing. Players can adapt and try new and different strategies to try their best to beat their opponents.
The game went through several iterations of testing to get to its final, most balanced state, where new features were added along the way in response to data received from playtesting and analytics.
The nature of this project was to test different methods of balancing to find which methods are the most effective when attempting to deliver a fair and balanced game to players.
Role
This was a solo project completed during my honours year at Abertay. All planning, design work, coding, iterative work and testing was done and ran by myself. The visual assets used in the project were sourced from various copyright free asset websites, as visual design was not my focus for this research project.
